Teddy's Newborn Photos

Once again, we had the fabulous Tami from Lorene Photography take Teddy's newborn photos! Teddy was a champ and let us take some awesome pics (even though it took a while to get him to sleep in some of them). And, he only had one accident! Haha. Here's his newborn photos, taken at 10 days old. Isn't he the sweetest?!

Theodore Michael Kane

Theodore (Teddy) Michael Kane finally greeted us on Thursday, June 11th at 10:04 am weighing 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 3/4 inches. Thankfully, it was a pretty fast and easy delivery (thank you second pregnancy + epidural!!!). Once Teddy came out, he was having difficulty breathing and thankfully the NICU team was in the room to take care of him. I got to hold him for a quick minute before they took him up to the NICU to give him oxygen and monitor his breathing. It was probably the scariest time of both Zach and my lives. Zach didn't leave Teddy's side for the whole 6-7 hours he was in the NICU. Finally he was cleared after his oxygen and breathing levels were stabilized and he could come back down and be with me (and I could finally feed him!). I was able to visit him a couple times while he was in there, but it was so hard not knowing what was going on. I was definitely thankful to have a doctor as a husband that didn't leave Teddy's side and knew (somewhat) what was going on!!

Emerson's One Year Photos

I guess you could say I'm way behind on this blogging-in-real-time thing! Currently I'm typing this out one-handed while holding my little snoodled up Teddy Bear and catching up on Parenthood episodes. :) Life is good. I promise an update is coming on Mr. Theo, complete with a ton of newborn baby pictures. Promise.

For now, I'll leave you with these... Emerson's One Year Photos and our Family Photos. Again, Tami with Lorene Photography took them last August and they turned out so good. Not without a lot of effort though... as you can see, we had to use a lot of props to distract her (Hi Mr. Conductor!). I'm actually surprised that Tami got any good shots at all solely because of how Emerson was so grumpy that day (she captured those emotions too, which are actually some of my faves)! Tami truly knows how to get the smiles out of the little ones though!

And man, do I miss those delicious baby leg rolls!

Gummy Bear Maternity + Family Photos

Hello there! I thought I'd stop by to share our maternity and family photos we had taken back in April before the Gummy Bear joined us! For those of you not following on Facebook or Instagram (where I post more regularly), Theodore Michael Kane joined us on June 11th! More to come on his arrival, but first, let me share with you our maternity and family photos (might as well try and stay in somewhat chronological order, huh?).

Tami with Lorene Photography (Facebook, Instagram, Website) took the photos and we love how they turned out. She is a pro! We've been working with her for almost two years now. She's also done Emerson's Six Month Photos and Emerson's One Year/Family Photos (just realized I never posted these - coming soon! So much for staying in order...). I would HIGHLY recommend her for all of you in the Seattle area (she's based out of Snohomish).

We took these photos over at Carkeek Park in Seattle. I loved Emerson's outfit - I wish she would wear it every day! (Jean Jacket and Lace Dress both from Target, Jelly's from Old Navy). My dress is from Target and Zach's sweater is from Gap years ago. I tried to coordinate without being too matchy-matchy and I have to say I loved how the navy turned out mixed in with the greenery. I was about 34 weeks when we had these taken. Emerson did really well until the very end (you'll notice the snacks in some of the pics... whatever works, right?!). She loved being in her "pretty dress" and showing the Gummy Bear Bump some love! Can't wait to get these printed and put up around the house!

Gummy Bear Nursery Ideas

Hey guys! I'm back with a little nursery update. All of a sudden I've got the nesting bug, big time! With about 10 weeks to go (say what?!?!!) until the Gummy Bear gets here, I've got it bad. All I want to do is get the nursery ready for him to be here! But, first comes busy season (which ends in a few weeks, thank goodness) and then comes rearranging most of our house to make room for the new kiddo. The guest room will be moving to our converted garage/storage room, Em's big girl room is moving to the former guest room and the Gummy Bear's nursery will be in Em's current nursery. Lots of rearranging...

Since Gummy Bear will be moving into Emerson's old nursery, we are keeping the wall color the same (Martha Stewart Sea Glass, which is now discontinued...). I love that color so much and think it will go well with some navy, gray and wood accents instead of coral and yellow.

Running with our Gummy Bear nickname, I want to do a Bear/Be Brave/Adventurer type theme for Gummy Bear's nursery. I don't think it will be super theme-y, but I'll start there and see how it goes!

Here's some of the details of the little mood board I put together.

1. Navy and White Striped Curtains - I'm planning on making some of my own with some IKEA curtains I found last week. Hopefully much cheaper and not too hard to do!

2. Swivel Glider -  For Emerson's nursery we got my Mom's old wooden rocker from when she first had me (and we still have it). But, it wasn't super comfy, so I splurged for an upholstered glider. We actually put it together today and it's pretty comfortable!

3. Paint Color - Martha Stewart Sea Glass (now discontinued, unfortunately!)

4. Be Brave Wood Plank Art - I love this and maybe will attempt to make something myself? Or have Zach make it for me... :)

5. Bears Art Print - Love this one so much!

6. Bear Cub Little Darling Print - I've always been a fan of the The Animal Print Shop and can't wait to incorporate this one into the nursery!

7. Herringbone Rug - I found this beauty from Target. Since the room so small, we got the 4x5 size and it is so soft and plush.

8. Let's Sleep Under The Stars Print - I think we all know how much I love Katie Daisy, so would love to have another one of her prints in the new nursery.

9. Bear Head - I love this Bear head taxidermy style wall decor. I'm also crushing on this one too.

10. Navy Patterned Pouf - I actually have had a similar navy pouf for a while now and think it will look great in the nursery.

11. Jenny Lind DaVinci Crib - This is Emerson's crib and hopefully if we time it right, we can transition Em to her big girl bed and use her old crib for the Gummy Bear! Fingers crossed!

12. Threshold Ikat Table Lamp - I picked up this beauty at Tar-Jay.

13. IKEA Hemnes Navy Dresser - We picked up this guy recently. I would have loved to re-do another dresser like I did with Emerson's room, but I'm not up for the task this time around! Definitely taking the easy way out! But I'm glad that I found this one that came in blue. It will still add a little character to the room.

That's it! Who knows when we will actually have time to get all this done (we'll have about six weeks post-busy season and pre-baby). All I know is I can't wait to put it all together! And mostly, I'm so excited for this little Gummy Bear to come join us!!! :)
